Cobra Classic high sided bucket seat with all black fabric covering is wearing badly on driver's door high side where you continually rub against it getting in and out the car. What's the most effective way to fix this other than re-covering the whole seat? Can the fabric be invisibly mended or "welded" by a motor trimmer? Is there some sort of clip/stitch on section that can be applied to this high wear part of the seat to prevent it rubbing through again? The remainder of the seat, including the base, is in perfect condtion.

I've seen a few track cars with the same issue, some of them have just applied duct tape over the torn part but this doesn't look too flash.

neatest solution I've seen is a piece of leather stitched over it - do the same on the other side and it looks like it's meant to be that way

Thanks that sounds like a plan. I noticed looking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue that some of their higher end high sided comp cloth seats have what looks like just that - leather coving the tops of the sides. The inner sides don't suffer any wear or tear of course.

Does that mean you could swap the seats to even up the wear?
