Hi Mick, Caithness does get a wee bit of snow although not enough really to make a big difference. As for Orkney we get virtually no snow at all ! What we do get though is wind and plenty of it, for instance we have had we have had up to 70/80 mph of wind in the last couple of weeks.

Good to hear, wind is fine when it is behind you! My friend left in the 1960s and had lived in an isolated farmhouse. I suppose the weather may have improved since then :D

Hello Stan,
I profess to being of Scottish heritage with a surname of Campbell, I also love Scotland, having visited three times now, but I am delighted to hear that Boris has found a home in the Orkneys'! He is lucky to be going there.
Yes, Boris is most definitely a "he", which is why I nicknamed him Boris in 1988, when I first picked him up, - it was the sound of his exhaust that gave him the name.
Anyway, I do have some info about the car YG2S4 940, because I did a partial restoration on it in 1990, while it was my then wife's daily driver in Wollstonecraft, Sydney.
It is a 1969 build & is on the Australian Mk 2 register.
I still own the other car in the Mini World article, - Dorris.
My direct e mail is dukecampbell"at"bigpond.com
Cheers & congratulations on your purchase!
Ian.

Just came across a few photos of Boris at a car show 9 years ago.
