i believe the carpet in my 71GT with kidskin basketweave interior to be wrong - and it annoys me, so time to rip it out and sort it...

My problem: I had no original carpet to go by.... There are plenty of threads discussing carpet types etc, so I am pretty confident I know what it should look like now and the type of loop pile... But what I don't know/have is an original sample to try match the colour to.

Does anyone have a kidskin interior GT and have original carpet for me to see? I am happy to Pay to have a small sample sent across to me if anyone is kind enough to send me some.

Anyone restored a kidskin interior car and replaced th carpet with a colour/loop they are confident is correct? If so, if like to hear where you sourced it!

Any help appreciated.

Roy

My GT has remnants of a kidskin interior but no carpet. The only place I know who has carpet that is close in style is Knox auto carpet with their classic loop - comes in buckskin beige. Didn't Anton's GT restoration in mini experience have a kidskin interior so might be worth going back to the articles to see if there is any info.
Cheers Rod

Thanks. Yes I got a sample of buckskin beige from Knox. I was surprised at its colour when it turned up - darker and more yellow than the example shown on the website. When I contacted them they said it was the lightest colour they offer.
Antons GT I think used loop pile Knox carpet; not the clasisic loop pile and hence doesn't look quite right (the loops are sort of in grains or straight lines rather than random like classic loop) I think Anton has used buckskin beige though. Even though in pics his looks lighter than my sample.
Currently that is all I have to go off, but would prefer to see an original piece if any still exists before I jump in and do it.
