Hi all quick question on electrical again. I'm not getting any dash lights besides ignition light replaced globes, but when I fit them into speedo they don't work. I've checked bulb holders with test light and they are working. Any ideas?

they earth through the gauges, so make sure there is an earth wire between them and to the body

Are they LED globes? They need to be installed the correct way. One way will work and 180 degrees the other way won't.

If it is a leyland check the dash light Dimmer. It might be open circuit or crook. You can bypass it by putting both wires on the same terminal.

Some round nose Minis had a small toggle switch for the dash lights on the side of the Binnacle.

No toggle switch. Still can not work it out. Only work when test light is stuck down the holder. Oil pressure light should only come on when it looses pressure? How do I test the earth? Single wire globes still don't work when put into speedo

when you think the lights should be on, get a piece of wire and hold a bare end against the back of the gauge and against something that's bare metal... if you have a piece of wire long enough, hold it against the earth strap on the motor (below the clutch housing)

what was the culprit?

is it earthed properly? the body isn't earthed through the mounts, and none of the wires that go to it are earths. It needs its own earth wire to the body. There is a captive nut on the radiator side triangular brace that is there specifically for that purpose
