Does anyone know when the screen demist vents on the Cooper S, the part that is just under the dash rail not the retaining plate on top, were changed from metal to plastic?

My Sept. 1970 MK II S has plastic vents.

On the topic of demister vents it appears the Cooper S did not comply with ADR15 Demisting of Windscreens which came into effect on 1st January 1971. A deflector inserted into and attached to the demister vent apparently solved the problem by directing warm air into areas not previously covered.
