My car YG2S4 836 has body number 332 and so does car YG2S4 837? I know mine is correct so maybe they made a few mistakes along the line?
Cheers

When I said "they" I was referring to the factory
Of course that's possible, Rod, but I reckon the body numbers would be unique and correct as this number was used to keep track of the car is it went through the production line. If there was a duplicate I think it would've been picked up and corrected early on. Since the body number wasn't meant to be seen or used once the car body was assembled and ready for paint it's more likely that numbers quoted in the register have been misread by an owner.
Here's what Peter Davis says about the Body Number:
SMBD Body Stampings
Bodies were stamped with a code by the Sheet Metal and Body Division at the end of the metal finishing line for internal tracking and a running cumulative total. The number was used within the body shop and not intended to be visible on the completed vehicle. It was positioned in diverse places, sch as (depending on the vehicle) the battery tray platform, bulkhead drain channel, behind the voltage regulator, or behind the final ID plate or compliance plate position.
