Does anyone know what has happened to the 850 Register that Sports850 Started. We have not been able to find it lately.

Sports asked that it be put aside in the Admin room. It's still there, but I don't know what his plans are for the thread at this time.

It's not a general room that can be accessed.

This is the frustrating thing about the registers, everyone contributes their information and then it is stored some where or held by someone where it can not be accessed by the people whom have helped create it.

It would be great to see this register and Watto's Cooper 'S' register amongst others being made available to those whom have contributed to it.

Couldn't agree more.

Yes, I hope that something is being done up for us, not for it to be just sitting idle somewhere.

The trouble with registers is that they are full of confidential information that the owners of the cars may not want to share with others but are willing to share with one person to compile statistics.

I will gladly help identify cars but I will not share private info that owners have shared with me.

It is better for the 850 list to lay dormant for a while than to have it open to abuse.

I must be a bit stupid... :? But what can someone do if they know your cars I'd no.s ?
I wouldn't think they'd be terribly usefully on their own.

A lot of people will not share their cars info with anyone. That is their choice. But they are willing to share with one person to create a secure register.
You can't now just throw that register open for anyone to view unless everyone that has supplied their information gives permission to allow it.

There is a lot of reasons why people want their info kept secure.

The Cooper S register being compiled by Watto (see following thread originating in March 2008) is intended to be made public and hence should not be seen as a 'secure register' as Morris 1100 puts it. For some time I have been supplying Watto with data and links to cars on the basis that I will have access to that register eventually.

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39997

As Watto says in that thread:

I am trying to once and for all put together a comprehensive list of Cooper S production facts and figures.

The information will eventually be made public, so that anyone can research the "correctness" of any Cooper S built in Oz. For this reason, only information about the cars is required.

As I am not interested in names and addresses of the owners of the cars, only the relevant info from the cars themselves, there will be no way of knowing from the information collected or published, where any particular car is kept.

When will the information be made public? Basically, when I am satisfied that I have exhausted every avenue of enquiry and the list is confidently as accurate as I can make it, then it will be published either in the magazine, on this forum, or in any possible future book on the matter.
