Well this went from a quick clean up to a rebuild very quickly. But, upon inspection of the original engine we found a but of a lip in the bores..soo
I pulled the engine to degrease and inspect. And it has led to this ...haha
I split the block on Friday and have it sitting in the tank for the weekend . Will overbore it on Monday and order new pistons and rings. The original Mowog pistons had some slap marks on them.
Crank is standard. In real good condition.
Will also refresh the auto box. ( I have just always want an auto a series) they are getting rarer now so will be an interesting experience into the world of the AP2 box.
JPAT in the UK still sell the rebuild kits for the and I will consider doing the clutch upgrade mod on it after I inspect the boxes condition.
Shout out to Peach Performance here in Brisbane . Geoff is letting me use all his gear and they are a top bunch to work with. Geoff machined my Deluxes engine 6 months ago as they are 2 mins from my house its very convenient.
We were jokingly talking about turboing the engine givin the low compression ... but i think I will leave that alone for the moment !
I need to focus on getting these cars on the road! That’s were the fun is.
Always having to cop mouthfuls from the horsepower heroes around here , but as I remind me them it’s not how big it is, it’s how u use it!
