What do we fit under the carpet?
Replace the factory Felt or what other forms of sound deadening are available?
And where do you buy it from?
Normal carpet shop?
Not interested in sticking dynamat every where, just want something to add bulk under the carpets and trim.

i went to clark rubber and got a roll of something (the name escapes me) but it was a silver sarki material on one side and black felt on the other. used that as base roof insulator and on the floor as well

Get the proper Rover moulded underfelt from a Rover import if you can. It's brilliant.

I've not seen this, what's it made of?

Other than that, I use the standard underfelt you get from any upholsterers shop and cut it to fit with a pair of scissors. You can get it in thick or thin I seem to remember.
I cut it about an inch undersize for the carpet its under so it doesn't poke out....

Dynamat's great stuff, but you're wasting your money if you're only using it as a underlay. Dynamat stops the panels from vibrating, it's not designed to work as a sound barrier. Yes, it will work as a sound barrier if you plaster it everywhere, but I'd suggest installing a moderate amount of Dynamat in the middle of the panels in question, and then use a good underlay as a sound barrier. This will save your wallet, and probably some weight too.
