Chained the oil and filter, then started trying to fix the door - wouldn't unlock. Now I've fixed it and it doesn't lock. Progress...

put it back together after taking the radiator out yesterday to investigate a suspect rattle - I was paranoid that the timing chain was hitting the cover - I'm sure it's just the rockers

also changed the manifold gasket...

I stripped a wide case 3syc gearbox ready for cleaning in the cold tank tomorrow. It will be used to build a 2nd S/C box spare for the race car.

You must have the only six-doored mini in existence!
You always seem to be re-skinning doors.

Pulled the wiper motor and drive to bits, cleaned and greased and now have single speed wipers again that actually work, instead of half speed "intermittent" wipers.

I fitted stock colour matched flares to Percy the van, but found the plastic strip is way short! (the guy I bought the flares from said they would be almost long enough and you could get away with it).
Now I just need new plastic strips, oh and front discs and rear step drums, and cooper S rear slaves.....
Then the flares will be nice and full!

Put the door skin on the drivers door.

The frame

The Skin

Lined up and clamped with vice-grips

Taking it slow and easy

Done

And it fits - sort of

Top left corner doesn't quite follow the curve and will need some work - have to do the tack weld to the top corners and there are a few hammer makers imprssions that a judicious application of a thin layer of filler won't fix other than that I'm pleased with a first attempt a 'skinning'
