Brilliant...
Thanks for that... That one is definitely going in the bookmarks... :lol:

There is a few other things on my new loom that are a bit confusing, but I'll see if I can sort them out myself now ...

Ok I did my first test run of all my new electrics now that i have most of it all together, but i have a couple of problems..
Firstly there is parts on the back of the spedo that i don't now what is supposed to be wired to.

Image
The little plug looking box thing.
there isn't anything like that on my wiring diagrams that i could see. I don't think i have spare wires that have nowhere to go.. :?
I guess its not on the diagram because it is a later speedo. but do i need this part wired in?

And my hi-beams don't work. Would the fact that i have not wired in the speedo affect this? I thought mabe that some wires need to be connected to the back of the gauge on the lights mabe, as i noticed that the wiper motor didn't work until i connected the wires to the fuel gauge on the back of it.

Any ideas?

That little box is the `voltage stabilizer' for the temp and fuel gauges.
It gives them a regulated 10V output.
If you run them without using it they will read high, and variably.
Wiring digram shows how they are hooked up.

I use one of wombat's electronic ones instead- more accurate and reliable. Body or road vibrations can upset those old originals..

ok, thanks.

What about my hi-beam?
Does all the wires need to be hooked up to the speedo cluster for it to work?

High beam works whether or not the speedo lamps are connected.
Check your wiring, also the high/low beam switch.

Ok, i am pulling my finger out to finish my mini finally.
So i'm just fitting all the final engine bits before firing it up (hopefully) and i am just a bit confused with this different carby

Are those free hose connections on the left hand side of the picture supposed to be hooked up to anything???
Its just a bit different to the old carb so im not sure.

Either hook that big breather connection to the engine (rocker cover or sideplate) or plug it off... :wink:

I have this temp gauge..
But I don't know how it is wired up..
I had a search , but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

The little marks stamped up the top are a "T" and a "B".

T = transmitter (in head).
B= battery = 12V switched supply.

Ok, thanks guys...
So does this need to go thru the regulator on the back of the speedo (see above posts)??

NO, as it's aftermarket, not a Smiths Mini one.
12V will be fine. (the Mini V stabilizer is only 10V).

Ok, easy..

So only the factory fuel gauge under the Speedo needs to run thru it then?

I think I can manage that. :D
