Graham, if I built a 68mm bore 998 (1108?cc) what HP loss would we get? (compared to the 1220, using RE266SS cam).
This motor was going to be a 1220 but the 1098 crank we got is cracked.

Vizard says the A series is more efficient in the short stroke version. Here is another question. 68mm bore 998 (1108?) Vs 1098 in same spec, which would perform better?

I would say the 1108 as it is closer to a 1 to 1 bore to ratio

I'd say there is less piston friction with the 1108 (because less conrod angularity), but I'm giving away over 100cc compared to a 1220.
"There ain't no replacement for displacement" (or is there?)
I reckon an 1108 might last longer, 998 is the only common crank I've never seen broken! :)

I've got a spare 998 crank in the shed if you need a guinea pig...

I've got 2x 998 ones here. One is out of a `78 van, std/std, has no wear at all. We'll use that. 8)

Yeah you are right.
Also there's `cubic money'. If you start to breaks things, these 2 go together.

I searched the post for maniflow but couldn't find it. Do you know the model number Graham? Is it this one? Aeg376 http://minisport.com.au/mini-lcb-stage-2-extractora-with-special-centre-pipea-maniflow

Maniflow med bore LCB, p/no C-AEG365.
Under $200 from Karcraft.

It's the original Maniflow design one, not the one with the funny centre pipe.
