clutch plate moved freely on the gear.

c clip was tight to fit on crank, now I think about it :?

They wear....so will this one wear, giving me the right end float?

Given time maybe...
By the time it does your synchros will be stuffed....

Take the flywheel off, measure end float (probably none), get the C-clip surface ground for .004" end float and it'll be sweet.
No need to pull ze motor..

Did you put the front thrust washer on the right way around? i know if you put them on backwards they sit out because the inside edge is tapered... i made this mistake once and couldnt figure out why the c washer was much further out until i realised the thrust washer was sitting proud of the surface on the crank that it sits on. just an idea...

I was there when the clutch housing went on. I put the bronze thrust washer the right way round. The C-washer on crank was worn both sides & pretty loose (had around .015" end float) so I suggested to Anton he get a new one...
So he did. Maybe it's a little tight now....

Anton,
Put a bearing shell in the ring gear like I showed you, it's a safe way to lock it from turning...
Bolt will not be that tight to move. It's only 262 studlock...
