The proper 60/70s solution was a section of the side of a Foster’s tinny carton slid between the grill and the slam panel support. These used to have a bit of a waxy coveting making them resistant to water and quite durable.

Might be problematic is you have an oil cooler though. 8)

Cheers, Ian

GuamMini, I will part with the Leyland distributor water shield, looking for $30 + postage.

HYL4234 needs modification to fit over an oil cooler - the above distributor cover suggestion is better suited with oil cooler fitment

I still have one from back in the day, never had problems that I can recall, running it on my old mk2 S in the late 70's. Will be using it (hopefully! depend on oldtimers and it fitting) on the car under resto.

I stand corrected - apologies. Assume it fits better with the shallower alternator for Mk2 & GT.

With the extra depth of the generator, the oil cooler hose runs closer to the distributor requiring a little more real estate, thereby encroaching on the lower 'tongue' of the shield.

I got the cover how does it attach to the distributor just hanging of the plug leads? Is there a clamp to the distributor body?

I believe it just sits over the distributor and held in place by gravity. But looking at the one you have pictured it appears to suit side entry plug leads to the dizzy whereas the correct 29D4 has top entry leads.

This what I was sold and I asked if it was for the Clubman GT and true mine is a top entry cap.

I think it's pretty clear from the photo that it would not suit a top entry cap

It probably rains very heavily in Guam, being Tropical - I'd look at this type that were used on later UK minis, it attaches via the rocker cover top bolts and covers just about everything
