should come clean enought to get down to spares shop and buy a new set.
cleaned plugs never work as well as new ones and if they are getting that black there is something wrong.
Keep a spare set in your car if its that bad and change them when it starts to give crap.
$15 fix for a headache what a pleasure.

Um... these NGK plugs are a new set. But after 3 weeks of people starting it twice a day with choke and running for 30 secs in & out of factory, they quit.
Motor is a bit sad... I'm ripping the head off on Tuesday to recon it.

You two obviously have far too much folding green (  )

.....I have been cleaning plugs for years and they usually..

a. perform better
b. last longer
c. keep my wallet fuller... :D

Some plugs are just duds from the moment you open the packet...

others seem to have a heart of gold :!: (why is that :? )

I refuse to buy Champion

They are excellent.Especially for cold starts.Plugs are pre-gapped.
When you first look at them you think the gap is huge-but this creates
space for a larger spark and improved firing performance.

Iridium etc plugs might work better in a multivalve ricer with 20psi boost, but in a 1952 technology Mini motor I reckon it's just overkill.
This question was done to death recently on the MM site.
BTW I don't play Lotto.....

Mick, I have had dud plugs out of the packet too (NGK) - I used Champion N9YCs at the dyno day to blow most of the 1275s away...
