Once upon a time a lot of cars were positive earth, not just the poms but cars like Chrysler and others were pos earth.
All minis were pos earth until they changed from generators to alternators in 1969.
As for posiitive earth causing rust, did minis stop rusting after 1969? 8)

Fuel catalisers (magnets you attach to your fuel line), Electronic Cathodic Rust Prevention and electric Superchargers are not worth wasting time on.

This is just my opinion, but seriously: All these things would be used by at least one manufacturer, once. Or the people who made them would become instantly rich. There is no conspiracy behind these products being 'kept down' by the CIA or the Masons. There are no black helicopters hovering outside your window. Go back to bed, Australia. You are all safe.

If you're traveling at the speed of light, and you turn your headlights on, what happens?

The generator light comes on and the wipers slow down.

Cathodic protection does need to be in the water (Look at an outboard motor's cathodic protection on the skeg).

They also place it where the water velocities are the greatest. On rudders or near the propellors are popular. The greater the water flow the greater the erosion to zinc or alumium. This is why thermostat housings dissolve away quickly.

This comes back to aluminium radiators in cars and thermo fans. If the grounding wires for the fans is not so good, it will pass through the radiator instead of back through the negative wire to the battery. This causes the aluminium radiators to erode away where the water velocity is the greatest and leak.

It is not the flow of the water that erodes the anodes at the bow and rudder it is the increased oxygen available caused by the water turbulence, but yes a typical installation would use more anodes at bow and stern than amidships, the extra oxygen available just eats them away more quickly. Zinc and Aluminium alloys are used in the sea. Magnesium is used in freshwater, ie houseboats etc. Pipelines and under ground petrol tanks are also protected by anodes, the damp soil allowing the current to pass. Cathodic protection does not work very well in land installations where the soil is very dry and sandy as it is to hard to get the current flowing.
It is used on jetties to protect the bits below the waterline.
The voltage created is about 1 volt to 1.5 volts depending on the anode material.

These systems work. I actually sell one called E.R.P.S http://www.erps.com.au/index_erps.html they consist of a small box and some pads of which the average 4x4 needs approx 6, they are all linked togeather...
Image but the pads are not put on bare metal they are put over the paint otherwise they would short out, they cannot repair rust but will slow it down and/or stop it. they work very well as we had a 4x4 that does a lot of beach driving the other day and he had 6 pads fitted when the car was brand new (we fitted it 9 years ago) and there was no rust at all in it so it must work.

well like all good things in theory they should work. They polarise the body so that it is negative (thats why cars have negative earth not positive) Oxygen is negative and from science in year 10 like charges repel each other. Like I said its all theory.
Best thing to do is bolt a chunk of zinc to the underside of your car. Sacrificial anode.. like in ships and boat outboards.....
BTW thats why your ally thermostat housing corrodes to buggary, with this new coolant stuff.
If you buy a chromed thermostat housing make sure that the underside is exposed so that it can corrode. Stops important bits in your engine from corroding. Easier to change a 15 dollar thermostat housing as opposed to a water pump

also known as ELECTROLOSYS, hehehe

blake
