Nice work thier  I think you were luck thier as your Brake fluid was very Low.. 8)

Also by the colour of your Brake Fluid,I would strongly suggest you do a brake fluid flush(ie get the old brake fluid out of your wheel cylinders, where condensation sets in and pits out your wheel cylinders and master cylinder)This is usally the reason why wheel cylinders leak.Flushing your Brake System should be carried out every two years.
Maybe also stick to AF and not metric when working on your Mini, less burred sump plugs and other bolts and nuts. :)

I agree with willy there.. Use the right tools.. makes things alot easier.

Also you can get stubbon oil filters off with vice grips most of the time.. not as messy as stabbing it with a screw driver.

don't forget every oil and filter change to grease your nipples (suspension points) this will take a mini garage like 15 minutes so it will be cheap, or if you have a grease gun and a workshop manual...

Nice work Spaceboy!! :D

Can I request a few more of these 'how to' things graduallly moving up to replacing windscreen wiper motors, accelerator cables and the like.

Then one day I might be able to keep up with the threads on changing pistons/gearboxs/electricals etc. :?
Cheers! :D

 The oil filter was just asking to be stabbed by a screwdriver - its the only way the bloody mongrel was coming off. :x It was worth it though, the new Castrol Formula R non synthetic has made a noticable difference, both engine and gearbox feel smoother once its warm.

Thanks for your help Chop, I would have chucked a wobbly if you weren't there! :)
