I hear you......but I have used a stone on the lip of no less that 2 fuel tanks, to knock off any high spots or identify any low spost. Both were very flat, yet still leaked.

This is a pic if the sealing face on a tank I got in a job lot recently. It has a raised lip on the face, which is different to any other I have seen. This looks like it will seal much better, but what is this from?
