Looking at that intercooler again, it looks very Nissan S13? Wats it off?

Looks good, looks heaps neater than sticking the intercooler at the front.

ok just thought i would giev yo uan update.

the intercooler and the ignition system is pretty much finilised, i have a dyno session coming up in a week or just over and this should see the tune 100% spot on if not very very close to it.

i took the car for a drive on the weekend after playing carbie springs and stuff and thought i should take some air intake temp readings now that the intercooler was finished.

now some of you may remember that before i fitted the intercooler the air intake temp on a 25 degree day would see around 110 to 115 degrees on 13 or so psi.
well the temp on sunday was only around 17 degrees or so but still on 16psi the air intake temp never went above 32 degrees, this is a drop of around 80 degrees, i am blown away that it so efficient given its location.

i am very happy with it and i think it looks good too.

Grant.

Brilliant results with lowering temps!

Sorry to bring this thread back but ...

How are you getting air flow to the intercooler? Ideally you need come kind of air splitter to force air onto it otherwise it will just be absorbing heat from within the engine bay and cooled a little by the normal airflow through the front grill.

i have now made but not installed a alloy ducting which directs air from the grill through it, but think about it if your cooling system works well enough then an ic will work fine as it has less restriction around it (shroud etc) but yes it does not have a fan but its not needed, my results of the air temp decrease is proof it is getting good airflow back out through the guard.

Grant,

That's not a good temperature drop, that's a phenominal temperature drop!

I am amazed it was this high!

Cheers,
Trucky

mmmm.....not sure it's as grand as it initially sounds (don't get me wrong it's still good). Before the cooler was on your intake was about 4.5 ambient, now it's running at just under 2. So saying a 50-60% decrease is better than saying 80 degrees.

So that's an air/air cooler? Excuse my ingnorance!

A fan for the intercooler is not really necessary, but if you can get a shroud to force air into the intercooler core, the efficiency will be alot better.

That alloy ducting sounds spot on. It should drop the temps even further :D
