I'd use the Anton (GT) method-
go to Supercrap, buy a sand blast nozzle, buy or borrow a compressor and dry sand, do it on your lawn. Hose it in when finished.:)

That sounds a lot like me! I sat a set of Clubman S rims on the lawn with a 30 dollars Supercrap sand blaster nozzle. The beach sand used is everywhere under where I was living and simply went back from whence it came as it was used.

The reason the use of beach sand for blasting was banned is because it contains mostly silicon dioxide & makes a lot of hazardous dust as it breaks down into fine particles and hangs in the air for you (and your neighbours & family to breathe).

Silicosis is not a nice way to die. Proper blasting sand (zircon or similar) is cheap. I use a Supercrap sandblaster at home too, but would never stoop to using beach sand after seeing the effects.

Sorry !!!! I should have clarified the use of caustic and acid on aluminium alloys. DO NOT USE either chemical.
I presumed that the rims were steel. you can mix up some caustic [you can buy it from supermarket] and immerse the whole rim in solution until paint is removed.
We use it to clean cylinder heads off marine diesel engines, it is the only chemical that removes carbon deposits from heavy fuel oil.[/img]
