Its has nothing stamped on the boot latch, so the other place to look would be the wiper/headlight switches then? Any other locations?

Starter , generator and distributer but they are likely to be changed by now though you could be lucky . Sometimes the underside of the fusebox is dated , the lower edge of the voltage regulater should also have the date . You can work the date out from the markings on the window glass but it's a bit involved .

The wiper motor was made in England and spent a couple of months sitting on a boat. The date it was made is not related in any way to the date the car was made. (except that the wiper motor was made first)

There are dates on every electrical item. I look at the last date and add at least two months to get an approximate date. I don't just look a the wiper motor and say the car was made on the same day.

Looking at the cars number and knowing roughly how many were made I said the car was made in early 68, I stick by that.

OK, so lets go with that then.

The engine number: 99H119/H/365, the last 3 digits. Would that mean its the 365th donk built?

possibly but these motors are imported and fitted in random order. so maybe not.
Early matic cars had another engine prefix, 9AN/A/H, according to my (non- factory) book.
