I have the same problem. I've run HPR30 and GTX2 (this was an accident..) in my 998 since Christmas, and neither have made cold-changes into second any nicer.
That said, the HPR30 is kinder than the thinner GTX2. If anyone has an oil they recommend for shagged syncros...
