Hi in my race car i run drums all around the backing plates has been flared out to scope more air in. i am just about to overhaul the front brakes by fitting new drums and slave cylinders and shoes. Ithe old shoes were called black flash linings i think. I am having trouble trying to get them if i do i will tell you where to get them from.

As far as cooling, I have a set of front backing plates modified for use on a race car. The have holes drilled in the plate and little scoops welded on to direct air into the area behind the drum. No idea if it worked or not
