Late rodchange boxes had none at the back (ie inside the box), they have a shoulder there instead.
I have often left the front one out over the years (when they got lost), never seen a bearing move yet.
It takes serious puller power to wind these puppies out when replacing them.

especially if the reason the circlip "popped" out was due to the bearing collapsing :roll:
