I run NGK BP6ES plugs in my mini (mild 998) all year round down here in cold old tassie!
Never had a problem and the plugs really need to be changed as they've been in there for a good 15,000kms.
I highly recommend them.
My mate was having trouble fouling plugs in his 73 Mazda 929 so we whacked a set of NGK BP6ES plugs in and 5000kms later still going strong.

Cheers, Rhys

Is there any advantage in using BP5EY PLUGS (which have the extended electrode nose) over the standard BP5ES?

I ran them in the 1412 stroker until we sold it (but they were the resistor version, BPR5EY). Ran just fine, I think BPR5EY are stock AUII falcon plugs so are easy to find.
If you have good plug leads & coil, resistor plugs can give a fatter spark and are less likely to foul.
