Josh is correct. To the best of my knowledge the OEM SIB's have never been accepted by an engineer in Australia to satisfy ADR29.

In NSW the SIB's I have seen have all been made of 20 x 50mm blue box with a 3mm wall. I did see some recently from a Qld car that were 20 x 20 square and refered this to our engineer who has yet to inspect them. Additionally I have seem them secured by welding, rivets, bolts and in one case glued.

Chris.

By comparison, the factory SIBs are look like they're only about 18 x 2mm tube held in with a single bolt at each end. Completely and utterly pointless in my opinion so it's no wonder they fail out here.

Thats what mine has, came from Brickworx like it and past inspection in NSW with no problem. They are also bolted in with grade 8 hex cap bolts.
Cheers Pete

Have you ever looked inside an Australian Mini door to see how they passed ADR29? 8)

I thought ADR 29/00 didn't kick in till 77 though?

I mean, look at the old 850 doors: no intrusion or inner skins on them!
