they were part of the cost saving excercise when i built this engine. the cost was supposed to be within reason, but this has blown out of house and home

love to get a set of full rollers but need money for that.

these will have to suffice for now.

Those rockers are OK, they are just not the best of standard parts, but quite OK. Just don't pull big revs and don't expect a high life from them.

hey mate, like doc says, those springs look coil bound to me as well. Same problem we found I had with mine, which caused a lot more damage and bit into my pocket. It broke 2 valves at which dropped into the cylinder.. and well the rest is self explanatory what happened after that. I would change yours ASAP if I were you..

What sort of cam do you have in the thing?

its not a big cam, a 731. which is .263 lift inlet, .320 lift exhaust, 268 duration 24/64 29/59 range 2500-7000rpm.

If that is ALL that is the problem, the spring can be changed without removing the head. There is an adaptor that screws in the spark plug hole for connection to your air compressor. Make sure that cylinder is at BDC before turning the air on.

Ive actualy done this and it works great , took me about 5 mins to remove and refit a new spring, sooo easy, if your not in a hurry id post the jiggers up to you if you like

& flick those stupid spring clips off the colletts too while you`re at it,,, they do nothing except "Maybe" ping off & fall into your engine "somewhere"

everyone has bagged those rockers.

id like to ask why, why will they drop performance, is they give slightly more lift. Ive heard they can snap, but never experienced it. All the steel pressed ones ive seen have worn tips. These ones dont seem to wear as much at the tip.

i could understand the risk of snapping on a high end motor, but for general fast road use whats wrong with them.

nothing,,, they`re rockers,,, you need rockers for the engine to work,,, so there is a set of rockers that will help your engine work, that`s about it

they do wear on the tips & quite bad in fact

they also have no bushes inside (for the shaft)

they do break-snap (i have seen it)

Full Roller rockers can be a big money pit too

roller bearings are not actually very good at rolling a mick-hair one way & then back again,,, all that does is allow each roller to dig into the surface of the shaft

most roller "Tip" rockers are just a pin with a roller on it,,, the little tiny weeny pin just digs into the roller ,,, not much rolling of the roller goes on at all

I`d rather a set that "swipes" nicely & correctly

I`d rather that people actually set-up their rockers instead of just bolting "a set" on without making sure they`re angled correctly & their springs don`t bind & the swipe is correct & & 7 &

any HP loss is usually from the fitment ----->>>> (the person fitting them)

sorry for the rant, i have the flu
:-(
