The Sprite manifold is 20°, the wrong angle, the carbs will probably hit on the firewall.
The carbs are fine though!

Grab em, then flog the manifold. Someone here will have a Mini one (30°) cheap that will take the carbs.

The spacer for the float bowls will also need to be changed or modified to suit the new 30° angle

Hi guys - rather than open a new thread, and whilst on the topic of carby identification - i looked at the bolt pattern and see that mine is diagonal, so I am thinking 1½"?

Still going through identifying what is actually sitting under the bonnet of my Deluxe.

Cheers, David 8)

Yes FatTyred, it is a 1½" HS4 SU.
Looks like one from a 76 to 78 Leyland Mini (or S or LS)

Cheers. It's quite difficult buying a 45 year old car which has little history of work done and working out what all of it is!

At least knowing that, and wanting to stick with the 998 - I have a starting point for go-fast(er) bits.

The HS4 is a good choice for a 998.

It just needs help breathing!

Was thinking of starting with extractors, inlet manifold, filter upgrades (along the lines of the Minisport Stage 1 Tuning Kit or similar) and a damn good service!

...or an 850 even. In UK the automatic 850s got an HS4- it's worth a couple of HP on any motor over an HS2.
The 1098 autos (in Morris 1100) also got an HS4 instead of HS2.

If you tell me the letters/numbers on the float bowl tag I can tell you what vehicle this came off.
