Concrete truck driver?
I thought you drove trains, or is it someone else that's the engineer?

I could only dream of having the wealth of knowledge of John Smidt, so my contribution to this discussion is limited to looking through various Mini parts catalogues. Of course these publications weren't always 100% accurate so don't blame the messenger if you disagree with what follows.

Apologies for the size of the images below but any smaller and you couldn't read them. If you'd like a better copy emailed to you just ask.

The first parts catalogue for Australian Minis was the UK produced AKD1153.

Page H1 shows the strut assembly as part 2A7375, with a Washer for strut (special) as 21A463 commencing at car 34099. Page H2 shows the radius arms as parts 2A7343 and 2A7356, with new parts 21A171 and 173 commencing at car 5488.

The first Australian produced parts catalogue for the Mini (Morris 850 and van) was HYL2980.

Page H2 shows strut assembly 2A7375 (steel) being replaced by 21A1031 (die cast). As well as the 21A463 washer mentioned above there appears another washer - special - strut (.100") part AJH5322 to be used as required. Service Bulletin C227 refers (see copy below).

Page H3 shows radius arms 21A171 and 173 as being no longer available and to use 21A392 and 393, commencing car 88818.

There's no mention of the type of construction of the radius arms.

This is the Service Bulletin that mentions a problem with the fabricated arms. I've just posted the first of six pages.

Thanks Winabbey,

So from the parts listing, it would seem that the Trailing Arm Pivot Pin is the same that we have these days, but in the Tech Bulletin, there is a different Pin. Any Part numbers or listings on those with the two grease nipples? They'd break pretty easy.

Does anyone have the tech bulletins relating to converting wet primary gears to dry? It would have been some time in 1962, I think.

Another one that would be handy would be about converting bronze cone synchro boxes to baulk ring.

Thanks
Tim

Tim I know this is not what You asked about however
the synchro conversion kit is mentioned in the parts book PUB1056M
Part number 8G718/M Years ago I purchased about 60 of these Kits because
at the time You could not get baulk Rings
It is interesting to note That the 3Rd motion shaft ( Main shaft ) is smaller in Dia and has to be used with a smaller double row bearing

My red BMC shop manual section H6 says:

"From car # MA2S4 34099 and AA2S7 44722 trim height was raised by fitting a washer between the suspension strut and the knuckle end.
Later vehicles with cast type struts do not require washers".

This bulletin covers similar ground...
