Did valve clearances, opened them out to 0.35mm from 0.30mm to experiment. (Car has unknown lumpier than stock cam). Some valve wear it seems, on the exhaust valves mainly I think. Not more than 0.1mm I would think, after 5-10k kms?

Managed to break one spark plug removing it (damn it stop tightening it so much you obsessive-compulsive!) Plugs nice and black-brown. Seemed eager to jump in revs after 2500rpm while driving to buy new plugs. Decided to gap them 0.80mm (pre-gapped) instead of 0.60mm recommended as an experiment.

Sprayed some water down the carb throat, into the vac line. Stumbled a bit, but no smoke? Does that mean I have no carbon buildup?

Doing some drive testing shortly...

Edit: its too $*)&$%# hot to do anything now

Busy day:

- Cut and replaced Sill rust on the passenger side

- Put on 4 new tires (Replaced the 17 year old bridgestones :S)

- Balanced tires

- Put new brake cylinders all round (all the old ones were leaking something cronic, explains why my brakes were so shyte)

- Replaced all the brake hoses - all of them had perished, 2 of them were completely blocked with no fluid getting through

- Clean all drums

- Fixed the passenger door which automatically locked itself and wouldnt open without a key a.k.a made it girlfriend friendly 8)

- Replaced shocks all round, apparently they weren't doing anything let alone absorbing any shock.

- Replaced rocker cover gasket which was pissing oil all over the car and drive way

- Replaced cracked and leaking fuel hose - no more fuel smell, and better mileage :)

- Replaced a bush in the gear box, i now need to lift my gear stick to go into reverse - never had to do that in the year i've owned the car...

Tried to return a KAD product that isn't designed for my car (designed for Rover, I have a Morris), and got quite well verbally abused for it and told to get the ""frig"" (yes a different rude word was used) out of his shop and that I am a con artist!

Saturday

tried a different needle and spring combination in the SU. Tried a few different timing settings aswell.

Replaced the LH cv joint with a new one. reshimmed LH top ball joint as it was a little loose.

Flushed cooling system and replaced coolant.

adjusted rear ride height slightly higher as it was scrapping with 4 people in the car when cornering hard.

and today i will play with the timing again. i am going to try a few different spring combinations in the dizzy and see if can get this dizzy to work like it should be :D

Jason

drove her on the road today for the first time in three months since the rebuild started. :D still needs a lot of tuning to be done.

also received another package today, QL5000 driveshaft couplings. ordered 2 thinking it was individual like the rubber uni joints, so now I have two pairs of the QL5000.

will install tomorrow.
