Went to put in the rear window, but decided I needed to do a little more research as to how to do it... :?:

That takes mad skills.... I feel your pain...

Re-fitted front and rear windows. Started on bleeding the brakes but I think the master cylinder may be knackered can't even get fluid to flow out the top of it by putting my thumb over the hole. Time for a new one me thinks.

Finally got a round tuit and pulled the 1360 out.
Once the engine bay is painted and the rack fitted, I'll drop the 1412 stroker in.
These original Maniflow LCBs seal good on the centre flange..NOT.
And this is after it was dressed flat and parallel with the end ones, 11,000 miles ago.

It didn't come out peacefully either, I had to use the electric LCB removal tool:

Funny enough I also collected a set of four 266 today also with a good amount or tread on them also. A Huge thanks to Steve for these Tyres and they will be used to the best of my ability
Other than that not much but I have put the second set of wheels into the soda bath to remove the paint off them.
Tomorrow will be more work to get the van on the road shortly

Kev is it more the gasket then the manifold

No, the gasket was new, and before I fitted it I bolted the whole LCB to a head (no gasket) and ground/filed all the flanges until I could not fit a .002" feeler in anywhere. (yeah I can file real good, the railways taught me)
My theory is the middle pipe gets hotter under power, expands more (gets longer) than the other, then the flange lifts away from the gasket at the bottom.
On the engine dyno the middle pipe always gets red hot before the others.

When the 1412 goes in, it has a new LCB (also ground/filed flat)- I might get the file out and make the top face looser than the bottom this time.

by the sounds of its the gasket could not handle it. Maybe its just a matter of fact to change it 3/4 of the 11,000 or maybe 7,500 and no dramers

The gasket is the currently available `big bore' one- IMO it's not near as good as the old red asbestos one, but they have all gone...

how well matched is the thickness of the inlet manifold to the exhaust? I had trouble with the middle one leaking because the inlet manifold too thick and the step in the washers too thin

I did a little tune up on a mate's new motor for Hay, and spent the rest of the day getting the gearbox out of the subaru, what a pain in the ass - I love working on minis

I put the side windows back on which made me decide to put the chrome trim back onto the front doors, just didn't look right without them. Tomorrow more interior work. Next week I have new brake components coming. Car should be driveable by the end of next week.
