I finally started on Maysie's interior...so she now has a new dash complete with new Pioneer stereo and 2 four inch speakers and iphone connectivity, her new black rear seat covers, new black door cards all round, new back parcel shelf with speaker pods and two Pioneer 6 inch three-way speakers and although not mounted yet, the start of her bright red 6 point roll cage...

Pics speak a thousand words....

the wok broke on the way to drop the kids off at school!! Luckily another parent saw and took the kids the rest of the way for me

The clutch pedal went a bit wierd on Friday, I only had half a pedal, but I forgot to check it out on the weekend... went to take the kids to school and thought "bugger, I was going to check that" - put my foot on the clutch at a roundabout and nothing at all! bugger! (I sad a bad word in the car)

rolled around the corner and had a squiz, the clevis pin was hanging out (I put it in from the top, it had worked it's way upwards) and when I touched it, it fell off along with part of the wok. It had snapped clean through the clevis pin hole.... bugger!

So I drove home clutchless and replaced the wok, and was at work by 11:30 (had a coffee at home too)

the lesson here is "20 seconds to check something wierd can save a lot of grief"

Do you think this was related to the clutch trouble you had on your way back from Hay?

Have spent this afternoon pricing up new pistons and rings for my little motor and getting myself mentally prepared to bash the pin out of the rod change so I can remove the engine..

I forgot to put oil in this morning, doesn't drive nicely... I still have the AFR meter so I might see what it's like, but doesn't feel good

We fitted a stronger spring to my carb when we removed the damper assembly. Though Des Hammill goes on about leaving the spring out in his 'SU performance manual', or fit a very soft spring... All I can say is that it works great and improved acceleration & throttle response a fair bit. And still get's me about 35-40MPG (imperial) :) (with a MG Metro-ish engine with stg1 kit).

Certainly a very interesting topic that can cause quite a lot of controversy (Hammill is the first I found to write on it)

Having said that, I think I might need a softer spring. Looks like the current one is to strong and pushes the piston down too much on full throttle...

Made a short video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtSam0RgPl4

Also could rise a little higher, bu then I didn't rev it to the limit. So that might be OK with a weaker spring...

Well - that's what I did today. Had to repeat it a few times, damn cam got no display... Not that I did mind :D

Cheers,
Jan

Pulled out the fully sick sub woofers and refitted the back seat.
