Played with the toy car today:- Fitted the new fuel balance pipe and associated braided hoses. Didn't go straight in as I hoped, but luckily had the original (very ill) available to check angles... Fitted new fuel pump and hoses.... Fitted "T bolt" - it is responsible for canceling the indicators - all good.

Getting there, slowly slowly....Plenty of time....Don't you worry about that....

Finish off heaps of stuff - replaced all clevis pins and clutch arm, bled clutch and refreshed fluid.

Oil change after a quick run to Repco for the LAST oil filter in stock - lucky me.

Tried to balance the carbs and the frigging Carbalancer doesn't fit over the carby as the air filter housing bolt too long, so adapted a funnel to give clearance. THEN found the ball in the air tube was missing...... :x , so made a couple of epoxy stick putty and got it working. Then hit it with the colourtune and had to lean it right out as was so rich......

Took it for a test drive,...sweeet! Gears very rarely crunch now, and the car wants to go so much faster! Also noticed no smoke at all during normal driving and start-up, and reduced on the over-run.....

Now to fit Wombat's voltage regulator........

Got a set of Yoke A008's,
removed the drivers side calliper, rotor, hub and drive shaft,
cleaned the grease out of the CV,
broke the cir-clip on the end of the drive shaft,
Gave up and went out for a drive in the P76.

new top radiator hose (Tuesday, after dad split it on the drive home from the PO's Place).
Played with the timing a little and mixture.
pulled apart distributors and then put them back together.
Drove it to the beach.
thought about tyres and wheel combo's.
went hunting through books and boxes to see what I needed for my project.

Ported the head for the Cooper's new engine.
I used Vizard's book and a little of Des Hammil for reference, motive power provided by supercrap and sutton tools :P.
Today was the ports, tomorrow I'll do the chambers.

Don't do much at all to those chambers, just de-dag em. These 295 ones are too damned big to begin with. 998 Cooper had D top pistons to fill em up a bit. Even with flat top pistons in a 998 with this head (stock thickness), C/R is too low.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I had in mind. I will skim it a little however if required to get the compression ratio where I want it. Even Vizard touches the chambers only marginally.

Continued fabricating a new skin for my door from scratch - just too many dents in the old one, some brass in there too! I love my TAFE teacher - he knows old school techniques :D
