well to get it started i static time it. which is i take out no 1 spark plug screw driver down hole and get it close to tdc then mirror on flywheel with torch and get the arrow pointing to 1/4 and then loosen dizzy turn until it just sparks and tighten it up and it doesnt seem to want to start. but today i loosened the dizzy turned it anti clockwise and it started firing and eventually started but wont revv even with accelerator all the way up.which tells me it must be something with timing.
Forget the static timing, just turn the dizzy till it runs clean. You will find a point when it will run good and if you keep twisting it will run worse, just find a "happy" spot where it will rev up Ok.
Then work your timing out with a timing light (or a good ear, or a vacuum gauge, or a dyno)
