STD drops proven to about 190 bhp with 153 ft lb torque
Run with straight cut gears.

Normal gears take about 120 bhp safely and 100ft lb torque.

Proven over and over on turbo minis, they all have huge power minis all run the clubman mini spares set and have no problems.

Just read around mate.

Are you saying that straight cuts are stronger than helicoil?

They arent because in straight cuts you only ever have 1 tooth engaged, with helicoil you have 1 1/2 (or 2 I cant remember) teeth engaged. Meaning Helicoil are stronger.

To further complicate this issue, yes straight cuts may only have 1 tooth engaged at a time, however they are usually/often of greater diametral pitch than helicals- ie. their teeth are bigger than the helical ones (but there's less of them).

so this is relevant towards the old "Which is stronger....unc or unf" argument?

Different arguments IMO.
That thread argument depends on what the bolt or stud is screwed into.
Alloy or other soft metals = UNC is stronger (less likely to strip out).
Steel or harder = UNF is stronger (more cross section below the thread).
