998 Clubbies all had timing marks on the timing cover.
Good idea, we can see them. No mirrors or gymnastics required. 8)

But this engine is supposed to be a 1275,I suppose the timing cover fit all mini engines.

Hi 9YaTaH,I am retired now so I have all the time in the world to play with my cars.

This mini was my last aquisition and I am trying to get it right,I won't let it beat me.

Regards Felix

1275LS had the marks on the cover too. As did all later engines from UK.

Whenever I rebuild a motor (with lightened flywheel) I braze a steel pointer onto the cover, and file a TDC mark on the pulley. Then use a dialback electronic timing light to set advance accurately.

The main problem I see for Felix, is how do you schedule driving 8 cars into a 7 day week...I wouldn't mind having to deal with that "problem" though! :D

The mini and mgb are on club plates and the others except for the mazda are on limited usage with shannons.I figure I have 1 car for each day of the week plus a spare. My wife reckons I have a problem.

Odometer reads 0.3km low for every 1 km on the navman.

And as said before the speedo is reading 10 km low for all speeds.

Therefore it must be the wrong speedo drive fitted to g/box.
Does anyone know what size or P/N drive gear I need to fit to g/box to fix this problem when I eventually pull motor out.
