I like to wrap a small cable tie around the outer cable near the top to stop the top nut from sliding down into the depths of beyond.

Yep , saves a lot of heartache  , especially when you think you've done ok getting the bottom one on , then you
look to screw the top one on and it's no where to be seen  .

Small update : Speedo now in but at first it was squeaking loudly. Probably as the cable turned. Moved the cable a bit so it's quiet down. But still slight audible sjueak at the gauge end. Why?????

The modern cables made wherever now are often assembled dry as the proverbial. Sometimes with free rust inside too.

Pull the inner cable up, smear some molygrease on it (NOT the top 100mm) and refit.
If grease gets into the speedo head you will have other problems.

What a shame ... their website is still active... Do we have another choice??

Cheer, Ian

Not that I am aware of locally.
There used to be a place at Blacktown but whether that still exists is not known to me.
Cheers

These guys are still going... in St Marys.
