Hey all,

thought I might Introduce myself officially, I'm Gig - long story on the name, I got scooby 3 or so weeks ago he's a 1968 deluxe with an 1100 in it. So far I have been making it safe to drive - got the hydrolastic done, bit of a service and tune he goes like a wee ripper!

Next couple of years will resto time - after Xmas he will be going off the road and then the hard work starts.

Cheers

Gig

Hi,
I think I had better introduce myself (I have been viewing for a couple of weeks, great forum and really friendly and useful advice). Anyway my minis are a 'Kermit green' '78 998 mini clubman in original condition that I had very little work to do on  and because it was so original I just couldn't bring myself to modify it. This and the fact that it seemed a bit sluggish (I later replaced leads and did the timing and goes a lot better, I should have checked that earlier) I went looking for a mini I could play with and found a red (with white roof) '73 hydro 1275 clubman with a weber 40 DCOE carb and extractors. I have since been doing up the interior and sorting out the engine. Engine was running on 3 cylinders but turned out that it was because the crankcase breather was connected to the inlet manifold (no PCV Valve) causing a huge vacumn leak

I have always loved the look of minis and it was only after looking more seriously that I realised just what a brilliant car they really are.
I hopefully will soon be in Canberra so I should be able to meet up with some of the Canberra members in 2005.

Oh my name is Arrin and I am 25, sorry if this a bit long a post. Oh I am just fitting CooperS brakes $$$ to my Red 1275 as soon as I get the rest of the bits from the wreckers and some CV boots.

Welcome Arrin (PM sent), good to see yet another person "discovering" Minis! Look us up (ACT Mini CC) when you get to Canberra and give me a call if you need some help with getting settled or Canberra stuff etc

Cheers, Mick

Thanks Mick, will do, it will be good to have some local advice :D . I just registered the green mini for another year so it will be coming to Canberra with me. The red mini will have to wait to be registered as I can't to afford register 3 cars
Cheers Arrin

Hi I'm Mark or thats what my license tells me, am currently restoring my 76 clubby. Not sure if restoring is correct word as its being done as cheap as I can. You can see a pic of it in my avatar best $250 I ever spent. I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions on the way as there are only so many things the service manual and vizards bible can tell you. Plan to join a local club one day but I'm stubborn and no running car no club.

Cheers :D

Yeah the black paint on the grill which creates the hi-lites, planning to keep it unless someone knows a good way of removing it without damaging the chrome. But then again could be the right look I'm after for Giovani. Still in the process of doing the body work, some very small pieces of rust and a few small dings, nothing a few dollars cant fix then he gets a total respray. Not sure though kind of like the black on the grill.

Your clubby looks pretty clean Mark. Welcome aboard mate. I have stripped the black off my clubby grille, with paint stripper. It looks 'different' withoug it....not sure if mine will stay that way.

I don't think it is actually chrome under the paint. It's just shinny alloy....

so people (apparent many) just painted over the shiny grill with black paint?
was this factory or just personal taste?
