Yeasterday I pulled apart the dirtiest, filthiest, muddiest, sludgiest, grottiest Mini K gearbox I have ever seen.
It had been so `well maintained'(!) the idler gear had worn through the side of both needle bearings, knackering both the flywheel housing and the gearbox casing. >>> going to the skip.
Why the f did I strip it? I wanted the selector shafts and forks (if good) for another box.. but I dunno why I bothered. Even the detent plungers were worn flat on top. But the 3-4 selector fork is OK and its shaft is not bad.

Replaced the crappy UK steering rack in the van with a good Aussie/doc reconditioned rack.
I think that's the last one now, so the fleet should be good for another 20 odd years

I also went for a drive. I was stopped next to a MINI at the lights and they didn't even have a peek at my car. I was a bit surprised given how much BMW market the MiNI heritage.

MINI owners... it's all about `them'. 1/2 the owners don't know (or care!) what a Mini is and was.
I used to wave when they first came out, but after so many wtf! looks I don't bother now.

Latest MINI shapes should be renamed to BIG and BIGGER.

Finished off the walnut dash and installed the new wiring loom - just have to work out where the rest of the car is stashed in my mothers garage. REceived my new ripspeed hilo's and rear subby rods. Sick of waiting for the bum of the mini to settle so I am going to force its will to mine

looking for a supercharger rebuild shop in Toowoomba to give the blower a once over.

Hooroo

I'm ecstatic!! after 19 Years, four owners and years of neglect. I took my '71 Mini Clubman for her maiden voyage! She ran rough and barely stopped, so for a mini IT WAS PERFECT!! Brakes are still spongey just need to bleed properly and needs a good tune but wont be long before its RWC time!!

Went to take some photos of the mods I have done recently only to discover my camera and its batteries are in separate postcodes

And I made up a boot board out of some scrap ply and vinyl. 'Tis nice and bright so it should be easier to find things in there, and no more hessian fluff on everything from the carpet backing that used to line the boot.

Installed a new weather proof fuse box, ran some new power cables installed the klaxon horn and re crimped all the connectors as quite a few were loose or not crimped at all.
