Did the final bits on the engine install. Surprised myself in that it fired up after a tiny bit of encouragement. Went for a drive and (thanks to the wizardry of Matt the mini man) admired my WORKING SPEEDO!! happy days.

After installing new front seat/safety belts, I did a final walk around to make sure nothing will fail the up-coming Road Worthy Certificate Inspection before club registration........what do I find but a weeping rear brake cylinder. Anyway, it's now fixed with new seals (on both rear wheels) so all that I now have to do is book the car in for it's inspection. That will be next Friday.

Wish me luck :)

Painted my re-pinned hinges today.

Next time I'm going to get new alloy ones. The whole re-pin and paint thing is a pain in the @rsE..

Yesterday I drove it to mini king.

Today I changed the bushes is the remote shifter. Makes driving it much more pleasant.

Reamed out some trailing arms, is there any reason not to refit the original steel guide tubes as opposed to the plastic ones that are supplied?

If you've still got the steel tubes, keep em. The plastic ones are rubbish, more so now they come from guess where.

Since the re-bushing how to is locked I may as well ask here,
Does the entire arm need to packed with grease or just enough to lube both ends of the shaft.

I noticed the hand brake quadrant bolt is through into the hollow part of the arm, Is this to grease the handbrake quadrant when packed full of grease or just how its cast?

The grease nipple lubes both the outer bush and the inner needle bearing.
But if the plastic tube is broken or missing, the whole hollow arm will fill with grease. This greasing was not a design feature, the steel tubes prevented this. But it happens with the plastic tubes in the cheapo aftermarket replacement kits, because they are rubbish.

Nope the handbrake quadrant is not lubed from inside. They are bushed, if they jam up you need to clean and lube externally.
