Here's the thing folks - had to get another head for Ribena - all done and all that sort of thing - the little beast will scoot along at about 130 kph with very little hassle. Not bad for a 998 with extractors imho :D

Anyway, curiosity has the better of me coz there's always room for improvment - no matter what you do - how do I tell if it's running too lean or too rich??? And to fix it, I adjust the main jet underneath my single stock standard carby - screw it in by one flat at a time to make it less rich. Is this correct????

Cheers

P.S. Do you like the new wheel trims - have a look in the photobucket under "Wheel Trims" - hmmm.......Obvious name for it Rod

In the interests of not cooking your new head, I recommend you get the Mini to someone who knows SUs ASAP....

Or someone with a sensor to poke up its little exhaust...or the Docs air/fuel meter!!

if you don't know what youre doing...you could lean it out and risk damaging an expensive hunk of iron

If it's not running too hot, then it's not running too lean.

Pete has one of those things ya stick up ya exhaust. Lyndsey was in there adjusting his a coupla weeks ago.

PS - wheel trims looking great!

I wouldn't rely on the engine getting hot to tell you it's too lean.
Trust me, NAV was running in the 16/17 bracket for air fuel ratio, he wasn't getting hot at all. Tis all good now he has a custom needle formerly an ABX but now it's A?? but he goes good now thanks to roy goodman
