i wouldnt bother. just use k&h range of engine enamels. i used rocket red, which really looks like fords blood orange engine enamel, good to 300 degrees, also i used k&h 'magnesium' for my extracters, heatproof to 650 degrees, good crap. you need to give the motor or whatever it is a good 6 coats or so, which u can get outta a whole can/pressure pack.

Engines don't get real hot, 100C max.
What he said ^^^
but get all the old paint off, and then wipe good with Prepsol.

I use normal etch primer, and normal cheap spray can paint from Mitre 10... I've never had engine paint come off...

it's all in getting the block really clean before priming

so NOT what they said ^^^

They are both right ^^^. If the paint comes off, the block was dirty.

Thanks. Would I use it to remove old body polish before re-waxing again :?:
I suppose it's not abrasive say, like T-Cut, the "sol" bit as in solvent ?
Sorry about the quiz but it sounds just right to apply before trying to repair some stone chips etc :)

I did my engine in White Knight Hammertone - it looks magic.
You can buy from bunnings - like everyone said just make sure it's clean and grease free and you whould have no problems 8)

prepsol is a solvent, to get rid of grease and any other crap thats on there. so its fine in most cases, i worked in a paint studio, and we used it before we applied any vinyl etc to make sure the surface was clean.
