Hi

Im looking at doing a flip front and was wondering what people were doing with the chassis no:.because all that metal gets cut away or covered up does it have to be stamped some where else .
Also is it all right to move the complience plate somewhere else ????

Thanks

The number on the radiator shroud (the location moved over the years) should be the body number or vin , an inspection station will look for it when they do your rego inspection and check it matches with the build plate or compliance plate depending on the year of manufacture . As I said though , the location of the number was on the radiator panel or on the firewall so as long as the inspector finds it in one of those spots they should be happy . I'm not suggesting you move the number but so long as the number is on the car in a spot where they normally are then you'll be fine ......

I think it's the chassis/body no. It should be on the VIN plate as well..not sure whether you need to keep both..

Must be stamped onto a non-removable body panel
i.e. not riveted on, and not on a bolt on panel

It's on my "To Do" list ...

Have it stamped before you front up for inspection
you will only get hassles otherwise :(

Borrow a set of punches from someone and do it yourself.
I've got a set here, but it's a bit of a long drive :)
