Are water pumps overhaulable? - Aluminium housing has "growths" inside from the water - the cast iron impeller is rusted - bearing unknown. I have two in such condition and a third on the car internals unknown. Don't particularly want to buy one for the sake of buying it but thought if one can be made 'nearly' new then why not

Just ditch it. They not expensive. If you are doing a concourse resto the original steel ones can be rebuilt but works out more money than buying a new alloy repro.

I agree. If buying an alloy one, particularly for a 1275, avoid the ones with the tin impellers- they don't pump as well as the cast ones.

If you really want a cast iron original pump I've got one you can have for nix, but the kits are dearer than a new alloy pump!
