Hi guys,

If you're gonna add a fuel pressure regulator to a mini, I would have thought that you put it after the fuel filter, as the filter itself could change the flow/pressure a bit, defeating the purpose of the regulator.

I came across this picture from minisport.com.au which shows the opposite - am I wrong?

Anyone got any other types of designs, i've seen a few with the actual fuel pump in the engine bay which can't be good!!! Anyone got any type of replaceable fuel filters or you just use the throwaway ones?

We put a high flow pump(efi pump off something unknown , works great) on dad's mk 1 S and then put the regulator between the filter and the pump , no drama's with it after 4 or so years . I normally use the clear plastic generic fuel filters with the little sump for water in the bottom of them and throw them away every 6 months or so ....

I was wondering about where to put the pressure regulator... i have a Carter fuel pump i got from a mate and i also got a pressure regulator that he had too. Since i've been running the weber i think that the piddly little Fuel Flo pump i have is not keeping up under WOT. Hence the purchase of the new pump... What fuel pressure is desirable anyhow?

In that pic you posted... is that anodised blue thing the fuel filter? If it's not, what the hell is it?

Ian....but why wouldn't you put the regulatar after the filter....that way it gets cleaner fuel...should last longer???

I have been told by a fuel flow specialist that the best second hand pump to use is the Subaru electric. This mechanic said it gives years of consistant quiet service without any pressure drop.

He rates it over the better after market types. But, its someones personal opinion.

I've just reread that , I meant to say between the filter and the carbs , had a little boy trying to climb up my leg at the time and wasn't thinking straight .....
