On the tag it says 70061 / 3585, I am confused as REVS doesnt accept a " / " in the VIN # field.

WHat year is the mini ? Is one half of the number the same as the body number ? Have a look at a similar post in here from someone saying they can't find their car for ideas ...

second half is the body number , that's the one to use , first is a BMC number , to be ignored mostly .

EDIT , wrote them the wrong way around .....2nd number (in your case after the /) should be the body number ....

And a very early 62 850 I'd say from the body number , care to PM the rest of the details off the ID plate to me to put in the 850 register ?

Thank's , I'll put it's details in a bit later and update the list to see where it comes . Interesting the plates been replaced for some reason (also explains the / stamped between the numbers ) , the original plate was stamped from the back and had raised numbers , this ones stamped from the front giving recessed numbers . Not illegal to do as it isn't a compliance plate as such but an ID plate from the manufacturer , normally done if the original was lost or damaged .

It looks like it was restamped a long time ago!

Just remember, it is an ID plate, not a VIN plate.

And after having a better look at the number it seems it was built mid to late 61 , still a bit of a grey area in the register there but it's the 3rd oldest ....

So is it the ID number that you provide to REVS for checking up on?

Usually the number stamped on the body was used as the chassis number. The number on the ID plate was just ignored by the rego authorities.

What morris1100 said , normally it's the body number which will also be the second half of the number on the plate on the earlier 850's (with English motors like yours) , occasionally though they'll be recorded as the full number with a space in between but I've only seen a few like that , they've been re-registerred after sitting somewhere for many years and the peopl doing it didn't understand the numbers .
