Could anyone tell me what the big pipe, comming from head is on my engine and why it's there....

if it the pipe the has the four additional pipes connected and going into the head its part of the pollution gear....Laugh nar not from me :lol:

Yep, anti polution crap. You have the "smog head".
(an air compressor driven by the fan belt forced extra air to completely burn the hot exhaust gases)

you can rip it off if you want to clear the space out. you will just need to plug the holes with replacement plugs..

Uh huh, you simply cut them off half an inch from the head with a pair of sidecutters and use pliers to ftatten the remaining tube. Works well, but you slice your hand open when you work on the engine cos the pieces of remaining pipe are sharp edged.

Mind you they're not doing any harm as is, they're just in the way..

You can plug 'em off with a 7/16" unf bolt, loctite it and cut 'em off. Same thread as main stud. i think those heads all have hard exhaust seats too ! Good for unleaded fuel!
