As the title says, i have stuffed it up somewhere.

Recently i had overhauled the front brake hub assemblies (drum type). This included brake cylinders, shoes and also the ball joints. When i attempted to put the hubs back on the car i could only just get them on (lots of sweat and swearing) and they are sitting on an angle of about 35 degrees!!!

Now, when i did the new ball joints, i did them under the supervision of an experienced mini mechanic but they are tight, very tight, you can still move them with a tap of a mallet but not by hand.

Are these too tight?

Did the tight ball joints restrict the ability to put the hubs on correctly?

Where did i go wrong?

Any help is always appreciated.

Straighten the ball joints up and try to fit them on, I can't possible see how you could get it on at the wrong angle, there's only two ball joints - the top and the bottom, and the steering arm simply points backwards.

You would have to have the hub on the wrong side and upside down for it to
be out that much! :D
If the balljoints don't move at all, then put a thin shim in and re-asses.
If it's too loose, remove the shim again. It will look after itself once fitted to the car.
:D

If the ball joints are dry (no grease) then they could be reasonably tight. Once you grease them up they should move slightly better, but it should still be a reasonably tight ball joint. Anyway within about 5000 miles they should wear to "resonably tight" anyway
