My car stinks when I have driven it for a while, like stinky hot smell.

I've changed the oil and just had new brakes (thinking it might be the new brakes being stinky :?: )

I topped up the coolant tonight and see it's very froffy and with the radiator cap off steam/smoke is coming out of the radiator.

Reckon I should have the radiator flushed? Or could it be more problems?

Not sure when radiator was last cleaned out???? :?

Get the radiator flushed
and get someone to do a head gasket leak test

I'll see how it goes tomorrow on the Mini run to Lorne, and get all the mentioned things checked next week. I would be happy to have the cooling system checked anyway with it being a new addition to my fleet and all, I'd like to know what has been done and what needs to be done.

:D

you may have a couple of issues here, but definitely, the radiator bit doesn't sound right at all. Smell may not be related to that but then again quite well could be.

I'm not a mechanic but if you have a heater could it be a leak from the heater core inside the car which might be why you can smell it? Just a thought!

My first mini blew a head gasket and threw a couple of welsh plugs. The engine cooked each time but it made funny sounds more than smell.

I would say your brakes are not adjusted properly (if they are drums) if you have a smell there all the time.

How old is the exhaust? New paint burning off? Any greasy hand prints on it?

Any greasy hand prints on the brake drums?

How long ago was the engine cleaned/degeased, with what, and how well was it rinsed?

Engine has lots of oils and crap on it. The smell has started to go away, a run to geelong helped and I changed the oil over the weekend too.

I will clean the engine this week, and have the radiator looked at too.

Thanks one and all. :D
