I was pulling bits off my moke today and found the following. Shouldn't the fact the earth isn't bolted down be causing me grief? :?

Its not good, but the engine can be grounded through other items..... throttle cable/accel cable. But all the other items are NOT designed to handle any current.

There's lots of other earthing points, but the strap is probably the best point... it's very direct.

Thanks guys. It's not going anywhere for a while, and I'll get bolted down before it does. 8)

When you do - polish both surfaces with coarse emery or a file so there is good metal to metal contact

In fact, its not a bad idea every twelve months or so to re-establish all the metal to metal contacts on a car. The givaway sign that its due is a yellowing of the lights.

Thanks for the tip Mike, will do as suggested.

Look what else I found whilst I was under there, I don't know much, but I know that doesn't look right. Looks like dental floss holding it together.

Cotton reel rubber mounts can be had from Blackwoods and the like any day of the week if there's one close by, they're used a lot in industry as well.
